There have been a few pieces lately on the way movies make glamorous women look dowdy so they can play regular, working class women. Glasses are apparently a common trick.
Which is odd when you consider how many men (including me) really like glasses on women. There is even an entire sub-genre of porn for fans of glasses-wearing women. You thought she was a cold, distant intellectual? Well actually she’s ....
Well, that’s what I hear anyway.
All this is just a good excuse to post a classic film moment. Given the choice between Lauren Bacall and Dorothy Malone, I'd go for Dot every time:
