Perhaps the best artistic expression of what it means to live the Gospel out of gratitude and love rather than obeying rules and fulfilling duties is to be found in the films of Eric Romer.
It can be found in all the movies but the single most direct expression is in Ma nuit chez Maud (My Night at Maud's).
One of the very best bits is on youtube. The bad news is that there are no subtitles so you have to understand French to get it. For those who fit into this class, it is below. Notice, by the way, that one of the points Romer makes here very convincingly, is that the most determined reformers weren't really interested in listening. As represented here by a man and woman who only want to mock, they didn't really care about substance.
