A little light culture: It's not your imagination, music really is more monotonous these days

I'll comment on this later. For now it is enough to say that researchers have confirmed what many have long suspected:
"The diversity of transitions between note combinations – roughly speaking chords plus melodies – has consistently diminished in the past 50 years." 

The "timbre" of songs – the number of different tones they include, for example from different instruments – has also become narrower, he added.
 There is some interesting background to go with this and I'll share some of it this afternoon. I have just a  question for now: Do we blame the musicians or do we blame the audience?
