I wouldn't agree with every word of the article about a man's relationship with his mother at this link but most of it is really good.
I would add that a very similar bout not quite identical argument could be written for women.
You could also write a similar article for men who live in the shadow of their ex-girlfriends and for women who need to put their best-friend-forever from high school or university into the right perspective.
Is it sexist that none of this applies to relationships with fathers and other relationships with males? No. Those relationships are just subject to a different dynamic.
