Woden's day links

Here are some links I found interesting.

Do we ever change? Our childhood personalities seem, according to this study, to persist all our lives.

Ross Douthat makes the case for traditional marriage. This is the first intelligent piece of seen on the subject.

  1. That study doesn't surprise me at all. I believe our personalities are shaped--for good or ill--by both nature and nuture in the earliest years.

  2. And what he's suggesting--that heterosexuals go back to one man one woman for the rest of their lives respecting the traditional Western marital ideal--is never going to happen. The genie is out of the bottle and can't be put back. What amuses me about these types of arguments or discussions is that the upper classes or people of means--Kings, members of the aristocracy, hell even Popes--have been doing all of the things he decries behind closed doors for centuries. Now that the masses have caught up and are doing it openly everyone is upset. I've always said, heterosexuals laid the groundwork for gay marriage a long time ago.
